Granola Goodness

Wholesome Granola is my new thing, although it was my friend Sharon from Powermehealthy who first introduced me to her amazing home-made granola in Shanghai! Sadly she’s a bit too far for me now, given how much we go through, so I decided to make some myself, and it makes a great gift (friends and family have asked for more, so a good sign), and our family loves it!  We eat it for breakfast with plant mylks, put it on fruits, make chocolate covered bars with it, grab a handful if feeling a bit peckish, and totally travel with it!  It’s so diverse that you can pretty much put whatever you want in it.

I have tried a few versions, with different dried fruits and nuts: apricot and sunflower seeds, raisins and walnuts, cranberries and pecan (my most favourite!), and also a sugar free version, made especially for my friend’s husband who has diabetes, or should I say his sugar level is well within normal range now, through just eating the right foods, no meds involved! I am so proud of him and his beautiful wife for feeding him so well.  Will share that recipe later.

Another perk in making this crunchy and aromatic granola, is that my whole home smells heavenly from the wafts of goodness infiltrating the air.  Lots of deep breathing goes on when our granola is done!  Tastes so good with cold freshly made oats or almond mylks.

It’s so much better than store bought versions, once you’ve tried, you won’t buy store bought again, unless you really have to.  Please try it out, give your comments below, and let me know if you’ve tried other variations too!  I am always looking to taste new combinations!
