Just before exams for Grade 7s (age 12 /13 years) of The International school of Macao this year, I went in to present some “Healthy Habits for Teens” to the different classes.  I was so impressed by the interest from this age group to become healthier and to adapt to healthier habits, particularly from the boys.  Many of the students already knew to always get good rest and drink lots of water were good habits, but many learnt and was quite shocked at just how much sugar were in fizzy drinks, and especially the very popular bubble tea that is the rave right now.  They also understood how mobile phones, screens can affect our circadian rhythms, and why it’s best to not charge our phones next to our bedside, as well as many more useful tips.

We went into about 20 habits we could change or implement gradually, and did some fun exercises and topped up with a very healthy vegan chocolate muffin.  I was glad to receive great positive feedback from the students and teachers, and look forward to healthier grade 8 students next year! : )
