Workshop Retreat

“The Picture”

Recently I hosted a retreat workshop for 8 ladies who are currently residing in Shanghai.  All busy working or stay-at-home-mums that wanted to gather, fellowship and nourish their souls.  They all wanted to come visit me in Macau and do another workshop retreat, similar to the one I did in Shanghai a couple of years ago for them, I was so excited!  It was only for a day and a half, so a very tight time frame, but I think we managed to fit everything in, including a turbo tour of the city!

Upon arrival, we had a healthy poke bowl lunch spread, which basically was a deconstructed sushi bowl with sweet sesame dressing.  This is super easy with a large group as everyone can choose what ingredients they like to combine with what. We also had some roasted beetroot hummus with some baked seed crackers, and some refreshing fruit flavoured water kefir as drinks.  Later in the afternoon, as part of the gut health talk, I did a probiotoc making class for milk kefir, water kefir and sauerkraut - all super easy and very beneficial to our gut.  You just need a bit of time and patience to nurture these fermented foods, and if you are new to theses foods, I would just say to take it small and slow so your gut can start getting used to it first.  The presentation I did was focusing especially on prebiotic and probiotic type foods - so vital in our modern day lives today.

Afternoon tea consisted of seriously healthy chocolate banana muffins, no-bake Apricot energy balls, No Bake Cashew Choc Chip Cookies (Vegan) , fruit teas and coffee.

We went around the city at night, and dined at a Portuguese Macanese restaurant to try out the local favourites. Later in the evening, we relaxed to essential oils reflexology baths with Epsom salts, and lots of laughs.

In the morning, we did a 30-minute stretch to wake up our bodies, followed by a healthy breakfast spread.  We had home-made wholesome granolas, milk kefir as yoghurt, nut butters, sunflower butter, stewed berry chia jam, vegan chocolate spread (will give Nutella a run for its money, but without the sugar!!), overnight oats with oat milk, whole breads, mixed fresh fruits, fruit and green smoothies with all the superfoods’ seeds such as hemp, chia, flax, pumpkin and sunflower mixed in.  Will be bringing you the recipes of all these later…Plus coffees and fruit teas, whatever tickled anyone’s fancy really.  We were in a really healthy mood and zone, so our bodies were absorbing the spread!

We then went for a whizz tour to San Malo and the must-see St. Paul’s Ruins to take “The Picture”, and enjoyed the famed Portuguese egg tart on the way back down.  We had a wonderful, but typical Cantonese comfort lunch, followed by goodbyes and rides to the airport.

Everyone was in a feel good mood and said they will be more conscious in making the simple healthy foods served and were excited to share with their families! Hooray!
